Also, the marathon website will have the course map on it. Plan ahead to see how many spots you can realistically make it to on the course. Find out what her pace is and if it is steady throughout. For instance, if it is 10 minute miles, Mile 1 = 10:00, mile 2 = 20:00, mile 3 = 30:00 and so on. Then, figure out where she will be at what time. Bring signs, shout out her name as she goes by, make her feel like a rock star, because anyone participating in a marathon would appreciate this more than you could know. If this is your first marathon to be a spectator, also cheer for the other people while you wait. It is a long way to be running, so all of us runners really do appreciate it. Have a blast.
