Ultima, to me, has a distinctly different taste than supermarket products such as Gatorade, Powerade, or Safeway's Winner. You might want to taste Ultima before you invest too much money in it. Sometimes you can buy a few Ultima packets at a prerace expo. The basic sugar and salt ingredients in sports drinks, as invented back in the 1960s as Gatorade by a medical doctor at the University of Florida for the Gator's varsity teams, are adequate for our needs during a marathon.
