I saw the guy with the baseball injury again today at the gym. His injured knee is barely larger than the uninjured knee. After the injury, he spent 3 days applying RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation), basically ice for 20 minutes, then nothing for 30 minutes, then back to ice, for the entire day except when he slept. For the next 3 days, he applied ice for 20 minutes, then nothing until the knee returned to body temperature, then a hot water bottle for 30 minutes, then nothing until the knee returned to body temperature, then repeat for the entire day except when he slept. After 6 days, he stopped with the RICE, but has yet to put any stress on the knee.
