Yeah, I know if I am training anywhere near as much as I need to in order to run well, I am going to have minor aches and pains. But a localized one which doesn't get better after a week or so is a sign of trouble.

I agree with what was said; further more if that injury does not clear up with rest I'd see a sports doctor. For all you know, this might be something that is easily cleared up with physical therapy, different shoes, etc.

You might try doing water running or things like that during down time; you don't have to lose that much fitness.
