I am currently training for a marathon in January. I've been specifically training for this marathon for about 2 months now (this will be my first one), and have built a base before starting this training. I have also been trying to lose fat by having a net caloric deficit of 500 calories a day, thereby losing approx 1lb of fat per week (it took years of beer, pizza, and ho-hos to get this fat on me so I'll take my time getting it back off). So far it has not been a problem with hunger or running energy, but does anyone think that I might run into energy problems on some of the longer runs that are coming up in my training? So far, my longest run has been 10 miles and I have not had any problems, but I know that the longer runs will take more energy. I currently do not use any energy drinks/gels on these runs.

I just am curious to know if being 500 calories negative every day will hurt my running energy or recovery.

Currently I need to lose approx 15-20 lbs of fat. I want to get rid of those "love handles".

Thanks in advance for any advice out there, any info advice is greatly appreciated.
