Hi, I just did the London Marathon on Sunday, my first and I am sure my last! Despite my limited training (longest training run was only 16m) I got round in 4 hr 56mins. I was happy I got just under 5! It was much more difficult than I had imagined and I started feeling it around the 13-14m mark. From then on it was painful and I had to walk some stretches but the relief and elation on finished was immense. I am well pleased with myself. I am still grinning to mysef when I think about it. I only finished a few seconds behind 6 time Olympic Gold rower Sir Steven Redgrave and I think I beat boxer Frank Bruno too. hehe. Although, to be fair, I was overtaken by all manner of stuffed animals and even a Rhino! The last 6 miles were very tough, the mile markers seemed to get further apart but I was determined to finish. Two days later and I am feeling alright, can almost walk properly and have only a few blisters. My achilles tendonitis that hindered my training for a few weeks (see thread below) did not reoccur which was a dream. Anyway, as I trained for this on my own I found this forum a very useful source for help and encouragement, so thank you all! I probably won't come back here again as I've done it now and I don't want to go through that again, but you never know, I may have a momentary mental lapse and enter for another one. I also managed to raise about £700 for Multiple Sclerosis so far, which is nice. ;)
