Finding motivation when things get tough

Running and I have had a long love/hate relationship. In high school I signed up to run cross-country one season, and couldn't make it three miles without stopping. I'd start off too fast, then crap out halfway through. A couple years ago, I signed up to run a marathon on a whim. I wasn't running at the time, just paid for it. Over the course of six months, I learned how to run. The fun times were when I could rope a friend or one of my brothers into running with me. The hardest times were running alone when my legs felt like lead. I've been there, Adrian. Nothing is harder than the mental aspect of training. But I think there's nothing better than crossing the finish line when I always thought it was out of my reach. Hang in there, you can do it! If no one has told you yet, I've heard the best years for distance running are late-40's, 50's. I'm so excited for you! This is such a great adventure.
