Well, despite my moniker of runner 47, I am pushing 50 myself. My advice - "don't think of yourself as 50!" Train just as you did before, if that means you trained hard and listened to your body and mind for feedback.
And welcome the new age group, because we sure aren't going to match our pre-40s times, unless we were WAY out of shape then! But we can run just as hard, have just as good a time, and be just as dedicated.
Go for it! Onwards.
