Sorry we didn't connect Patriot's Day. Sounds like you had a good time, even though you acknowledged holding back a bit early on.

To your point: I've known several marathoners that repectfully ran within themselves in their first Boston, got too ambitious the second time they toed the Hopkinton line, and ran a horrible followup. If you come back to Boston again, let the clutch out a bit. But should you take the course too lightly, it can be a humbling afternoon. It really croaked me the year after I had it "all figured out".
