While I hope something as simple as a change in running style can help you, the comment about losing toe nails seems like a classic indictment of your shoes. As Duke suggested in the health/nutrition section, you might have a shoe problem. Often a black toe nail is due to wearing a shoe that is at least 1/2 a size too small. If this is part of your problem (and it is a very common problem), then you will begin the endless journey for the perfect shoe! A longer shoe, which might help your toes, often brings with it an undesirable wider width...
