Does The Last 6.2 Ever Feel Better???

Well, it's done; did my first marathon. Didn't meet my goal of under 4 hrs. but I wasn't too far off. I followed an intermediate training program peaking at 2 18 mile runs and 3 20 mile runs (approx. 3 hrs). Now, my questions. Can you ever prepare for what that last 6.2 feels like?? I don't know if I hit the wall since this was my first experience. My legs were tightening at about 15 and just gradually increased until I felt cramped from neck to ankle. My last 6.2 miles averaged to almost an 11 min. mile pace!!! There went my goal time. But I'm pleased with my performance and now I have a baseline to improve from. I drank at every water station and followed the training, taper and menu pretty closely. Was that the wall I hit?? And if it was, what can I do to improve: longer training runs or a more intensified training program. Any and all responses are appreciated!!!!!
