Hi everyone! I ran my first Marathon on 13th June this year (Edinburgh, Scotland) and really enjoyed the day - unfortunately since the race I've been suffering from ITBS for the first time. After 4 weeks of no running (only exercise I did was some swimming), lots of stretching (as recommended by physio), ice every night, ibuprofen every morning, I tried to run again this weekend. After 10-15mins the pain was back and just as excruciating as it was 3-4 weeks ago. I suppose I'm just wondering how long should I be doing nothing? How do you get over ITBS? Does anyone had a similar problem and beaten it? I know it hasn't been that long, but I thought I was doing all the right things, and if it is purely an overuse problem then I would be rested enough by now. Am I being unrealistic?

I've just started back to cycling to and from work every day (9 miles round trip) to try and get some fitness back, and the ITBS doesn't hurt on the bike - but should I really be doing this? It feels like I might as well if I'm not getting better anyway, but obviously I don't want to make the ITBS worse.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated!

Yano
