I was amused by Terry's post. Isn't it interesting what phases we go through during our running careers!

A few years ago, I mostly focused on the 5K-10K distance. I still return to these. But, I get depressed when I see the clock at the end of shorter races; the sub 20 5K's seem like a distant memory and the sub 40 10K a lifetime ago.

On the other hand, my half-marathons and longer races have actually improved! Hence, I put more emphasis on these now-a-days. I am now contemplating trying an ultra...though I am sure I will regret it.
