When I first started running I went through 3 different brands/styles before I found a pair that didn't give me blisters. I just thought that you had to "break them in." A good running shoe that fits needs no breaking in period. I now have two styles of shoes that I know I can go into a store and buy and they'll fit perfectly (assuming the b*st*ards don't change the design). I use one shoe for training and one shoe for racing which is lighter.
Also, you'll need to get shoes at least a half size larger than you are used to wearing and probably a full size larger. When you run, especially for distance, your feet swell. The last thing you want to do is lose all of your toenails because they are rubbing inside your shoes.
Thanks for the tip on Target Trae. I'm going to head there today.
