In preparation for the big one, the long run is considered by far the most important single workout, by HH Pfitzinger, and others. It builds endurance, trains your body to convert fat to energy, and toughens up your joints and muscles for the pounding of 26 miles on the road. In managing real-world schedules, you can get away with dropping every other workout, but don't sacrifice the long run. How you manage your 5Ks is up to you, but it might be a good idea to put those little sprints away for awhile. Good luck
