Well Vic you said any advice would be great, you might change your mind when you hear my advice.
Why the Chicago marathon in October, this is less than 4 months away. If you truly are very new to running as you indicate, what's the rush to run a marathon? Have you done road races in distances other than 5K's?
I'm not saying you couldn't do the Higdon marathon training and the 5K races as proposed, and complete your first marathon in October. But there should be no hurry to do a marathon if you are new to running.
There are many distances in between (5 mile, 10K, 10 mile, Half-Marathon, etc.) that you could race before attempting the marathon. You'd be more successful and run a better time by building a base with shorter distance races first.
I waited 6 years after I started running to do my first marathon, and the wait was worth it as I may have qualified for Boston (I don't recall the BQ standards back then).
That's my $.02
