This will be my first marathon @ 47. I have started training since april. I'm concerned about my cardio intake. My longest run so far has been 14 miles. Had to take time to recoup, but found that my cardio decreased and was hard to keep my heart rate down. I have asthma and I can get my HR in the 180's. Have had a stress test done, doc said the increase HR is do to my breathing. I find that all that bouncing also causes me to have difficulty breathing, which decreases my time. I just finished 1/2 marathon doing a 14.33 pace. Any ideas on how I can shave off time and keep my HR down?
