If the injury has caused you to not be in the best possible shape I would forget about the April race and choose a fall race instead. If you are not in shape then your time will not be what you are capable of. The soreness after the race will be more than if you were in top condition. The post-race soreness will prevent you from training hard for about 3 weeks. That is 3 weeks where you could be getting into good condition but will be spent recovering. Your fall time will be better if you don't lose these 3 valuable weeks. What caused your injury? Possibly look at your shoes.
