I haven't entered the world of fluid belts yet - I'll have to look into those! However, I notice that it isn't about distance - it's about the temp, dew point, and how I'm feeling. I carry a 16 ounce water bottle in each hand. Normally, one for water and one for Ultima. If I'm doing a long run, then I make sure to have more in my car/house and loop back.

Sometimes, I even bring water with me for a 3 mile run here - since our comfortable running weather is so limited. I have run with a heat index over 100 before - many times. I bring water with me for most summer runs. Simply because it can be dangerous not to have it if you need it in the summer.

*The rest of the year, I'll run up to an hour without water.
