Contrary to Ollie's remarks, I think it is much more likely you will drop time as you get more experience and training. The degree of improvement will vary according to the individual.
Personally, I know dozens of 4-hour first timers that ran 3:40 or so in their very next marathon. (My first finish was 3:45 and my next one was 2:58)
If marathon training suits your soul, I have to believe that you will indeed get faster with practice.
