I got home from work pretty sore last night. So I thought I'd take your advice Ed and 'pig-out' on Pizza. I also thought I'd take your advice on consuming 'mass' quantities of beer before doing my 2nd 20k.
Well guess what team?
I awoke this morning with 'one-helluva-hang-over'!!!
Now I have a question in relation to what everyones' perception of the word 'mass' means?
Being a Kiwi (New Zealander but living here in Oz), consuming 'mass' amounts of alcohol means, "drink as if there is no tomorrow"!!! Which is exactly what I done. Me thinks my wife is getting a bit suspicious that I am actually on an Alcohol Bulletin Board rather than a 'Runners' Bulletin board ...hehehe...
Anywayz, it's obvious I clearly misunderstood your advice Ed. If possible could you be more specific in relation to exactly how much beer to consume and when exactly should I stop drinking it?
I hope no-one thinks I am trying to be a 'smart-ass'. I'm just one of those stupid kiwi's who always needs clarification on things.
To Randy: My percieved effort on my 1st 20k run was ... "HOLY SHITE!!! THIS IS KILLING ME!!!". Believe me when I say I WAS really pushing it to get to the finish. I could hardly lift my feet off the ground. I thought I'd be able to have one last 'burst' home, the 'mind' was willing, but my body told it to 'Go To Hell' ...hehehe...
Something I think need clarification ... the reason I am attempting my 1st marathon is because in my opinion, a man's word and his intergrity is very important to me. I made a commitment that I will not waver from. That's just who I am.
In saying that, I have truly come to have an enormous amount of respect for those who have completed or competed in a marathon. I sincerely, "Take My Hat Off To You All".
I am under no illusionsn what-so-ever that running my 1st marathon is NOT going to be a 'walk-in-the-park'. 42.2k is one-helluva-long-way-to-run. "SHITE, 42.2k is a 'helluva-long-way-to-DRIVE!!!"
Thanks Team & Be Well - Mike
