Shucks guys, you're making me blush!!! Thank you to you all for the great advice you've been giving.
My body feels much better this morning, but I still feel abit tender in places, so I'm putting off my next 20k until tomorrow (not looking forward to it, but a man is gotta do ... what a man is gotta do ...hehehe)
Randy was curious about my physical traits. Here they are. I weigh 97kg. Aged 39 and my fitness level is I guess pretty low judging by the 2hrs 45 minutes it took me to do 20k on Wednesday and the time it is taking my body to recuperate.
However, I did manage to drag my sorry ass outta bed at 5am this morning to do a slow 7k@55 minutes.
You mention some bloke running a marathon in 7hrs-plus. To be quite honest, I'd be over the moon if I could do that time for my first marathon.
Tom B. may be correct in his assessment that I may be able to do it in about 6hrs. As I mentioned I weigh 97kg, so that time may be a bit slower, so 7hrs would be okay with me.
I gotta love Ed G's advice. Especially the part about "Eat lots of pizza and spaghetti. and DRINK a fair amount of BEER - but not in the last few days before the race". To be honest I could do with a Pizza & Beer right now ...hehehe... Thanks Ed.
Well, I'm running abit late for work. (What's new?...hehehe)
Will let you all know how I went after I finish my 20k run tomorrow.
