My 55 year old father suffered similar injuries to the meniscus of BOTH knees after years of overuse and sports training! He underwent orthoscopic surgery on his knees in October of '99 and is currently back up to speed with the workouts he was doing prior. (running and biking mainly) Granted, he is no marathon runner and because he is getting older, his recovery time may have been slower, but he rebounded amazingly from what seemed to be a debilatating injury. His sports medicine specialist is big into continued care and physical therapy which I believe were crucial to his recovery. Hope you have similar success!
