Ok folks, here's a suggestion. If you're concerned that "half marathon" sends the wrong message about your accomplishment, tell people you did a

Double 10k Plus

(or should we call it a "10k squared and then some"? "2 X 10k +"?

I'd like to be able to say "plus a mile", but unfortunately a half marathon is not quite 2 10k's and a mile and it's longer than 2 10k's and a kilometer so that doesn't work either.

The combination of "double" and "plus" will definitely make your accomplishment sound impressive (and it is impressive!)

I think we should force all those people doing 50 milers to refer to them as "half hunderds" so they know what the half marathoners feel like.

One other thought. For those who are really modest, tell people how long your ran in light years or light seconds (.00007 light seconds)). In addition to baffling them, you'll sound like you've done next to nothing. Even the marathoners can be modest. They went a "mere" .00014 light seconds.

I just realized that based on my recent marathon time, light is more than 115 million times faster than I am (if I've calculated correctly). And it doesn't hit the wall (or does it?).

Double 10k Plus - tell your friends.
