Marathon training 2x/week

Well ... I can finish marathons running only 2 days per week. My finish times are not good and likely don't reflect my actual potential.

1. what are your marathon finishing times?

My first marathon was in 1987 while still in college - ran 3:38 running 5 days a week, averaging 35 miles per week. Longest run was 2.5 hrs or 16-17 miles.

My 2nd, 3rd, 4th marathon times - 4:38, 4:39 and 4:32 in 2003 and 2004.

2. How much are you running on 2x per week schedule?

25 to 30 miles per week. Longest run was 16 miles, done 3 times. I never ran beyond 2.5 hours per training run.

But I would run 2 to 2.5 hours on Saturday and again on Sunday, between 13 to 16 miles per run.

3. I find it truly fascinating you can complete the 26.2 on 2x a week schedule.

Yes each time I line up for the marathon, I wonder if I'll finish!

Susan
