Hi folks,
I am new to this site - just registered this week. Can you email me if you can help, as I don't know how often I will check this post. I have decided to run the Boston Marathon. I live in Boston, and I know what you all are thinking: "It's a little late to decide now, isn't it?"
I have a little bit of base. I am a triathlete/basketball player so I am in good shape. I just don't have near the mileage. I have probably have run at least 10 - 15 miles every week for like two years straight so I think this helps a little. I would love for an experienced marathoner to give me some advice on a schedule. Maybe like a revised Galloway plan as I only have about 7 more weeks. I have been running 20 - 25 miles weekly for about 3 weeks and swimming for about 2 hours per week also. My longest run recently has been about an hour and 45 minutes, 10 or 11 miles (yesterday). I'm doing ok, but I need some "structure" now.
I want to run mabye the Melrose 1/2 marathon and add some miles (March 11th)and/or the Eastern States 20 miler (March 25)as my peak week and then taper. Any thoughts on the "increasing your mileage more than 10% will get you hurt" rule? I would love any thought or opinions. Especially if you had some specific training plans or advice. Thanks so much.
Oliver
