If you're referring to the start at Portland, I'd have to say definitely definitely definitely confused.

I was surprised how poorly organized the start was last year. The rest of the race went so well.

The problems? 1. Walkers and Runners start at the same time. 2. Runners line up in the front, Walkers in the rear...

Well you know how that usually goes.

I didn't get to the start area until 15-20 mins before the race and there was noplace to line up. A whole bunch of us were relegated to a side street and had to "merge" into the start lanes.

The first 5-6 miles were excruciatingly slow, but it wasn't worth the effort to run around slower runners and A WHOLE LOT MORE WALKERS than should've been ahead of us runners.

I sent a major email complaint to the race organizers indicating it was the worse start I'd ever seen in a road race.

Hopefully others did the same and the race organizers will change things around this year.

I suggested different start times for walkers, as Vancouver has.
