Hi Katy, I am a former rower 4 years, with 2 years of downtime before I decided to run the marathon (four months training - only done one so-far). I found my aerobic base and distance built up quickly, and the years of strength training ensured I kept a good running style even when tired. Trained 3 times a week, building up to long run (up to 18miles) on Sundays, and 10 miles on Wednesday. Other session was work dependent. End result was 3 hrs 36 - even 20 to 24 miles was NOT as tough as a 5,000m erg test ! Good luck
