Yeah, I usually prefer to stay near the start/finish of a race too. If you or anyone have any recommended places to stay in that area, please let me know. I don't recall there being a lot of hotels and lodges on that side of Golden Gate Park, but it's been 20 years since I lived in the SF Bay Area so a lot may have changed since then.
