Your daughter is so fortunate to have such a supportive family! Will you adopt me?
I like the "divide and conquer" technique. Have people at various places along the course, espcially toward the end (Mile 18+). This is when the crowds are thinner, and the athletes need more encouragement.
A runner I know gives her supporters a bright bandana to wave. It may be easier to spot a spectator waving something bright rather than tring to find your athlete in a huge mass of runners. Make sure your daughter knows where you will be stationed, so she can look for you.
Ask her what kind of food you should have for her -- peanuts, M&Ms, Gu, Power Bars, Gatorade, etc. Bandaids, Advil and other first aid supplies may be welcome as well.
Enjoy your Marathon experience!
