I ran track and cross country throughout college (I graduated in 03), and for almost every meet my parents drove to ohio to see me run! It was so wonderful to have them there to support me. They would run almost as much as I did---running all over the course to try and see me at as many places as they could. To support your daughter as best you can, I recommend a divide and conquer technique: if your husband or any other friends are going with you, split up so that it seems like you guys are everywhere. Ask her what spots she would need you at the most, like at the top of a hill, or two miles to the finish line. Ask her what splits she wants to run and then keep a watch on and call them out to her whenever you see her. Also, a lot of races offer only water---ask her if she'd like you to have gatorade for her at any point. And definitely be loud and proud---make her feel like she is the most important person in that race!!! Thanks to you she will probably do an amazing job. Cheers to you! You deserve major props for being such a great marathon mom :)
