I gotta brag too..... Robert 5/15/04 8:13:03 PM ET
I love hearing these stories of success. Im sure my friends and co-workers are tired of hearing mine, so if you dont mind I'll impose on you. In Feb 2002, during a checkup, my doctor made it clear to me that at my weight and health condition, there was no way I would see my then 3 yr old daughter turn 13. The truth is cold and stings alot. With that, I checked into an alcohol rehab (now 2 yrs and 2 mos sober) and changed every thing about my life. Got new friends, made up with my best friend and developed a new approach to diet and exercise. Since then I have lost 126 pounds, and recently completed my first 1/2 Ironman and 1/2 marathon. Running and triathlons gave me the vessel I needed as an outlet during the difficult times, and help insure that I will be here long after that little girl needs her daddy to walk her down the aisle. Thanks for letting me share.
