Beth, don't be sorry. Despite my 2-ton leg, I finished at 1:45 (half marathon). I'm proud of that because I NEVER thought I'd even make it to the end w/o crawling to the finish line! lol Also, the time is much better than my first race back in November. As for being sorry for me...listen to this one, I wore the WRONG shorts and ended up feeling sore between the legs by mile 3. Ten miles later, I'm chafed so bad, you'd think I skinned my inner thighs on a cement walkway! OOOOOO! The pain I went through to heal from it all!!!! Can you tell I'm a rookie? lol
As for the Motorola, I have bought a pair of "sweat-wicking" shorts and my handy-dandy body glide and I BELIEVE I'm set. As for the heavy leg, I've worked on doing dynamic warm-ups, stretches targeting the outer hip and glute areas, and hoping for the best!! A trainer I know told me it seems as though my quads are overworked and my glutes are not "firing" enough to do it's end of the work and the lead foot was the symptom.
By the way, Beth, do you remember my talking about my "older" running partner and how I wanted to go ahead w/o him at the motor? If you do, he ran a fabulous race...along side me. Although I would not claim defeat or talk a negative word throughout the race, he could tell at was not at my best. I asked him after the race, so how do you feel after kicking my butt? He smirked, "I feel revenge!" Well, at least he spoke honestly! hahaha! Wish me luck at the motor...it's one week out! I feel good enough to give it my last shot...short long-distance career! I'll probably resume it next yr. and do the full marathon then. Ok, good night, Abby.
