I disagree with the person who told you to start eating red meat. I am no star runner, and only run approximately 30 miles per week, but I have run one marathon, several half marathons, 10K's, etc. and am a strict vegan. While I am not a doctor I really believe that supplements and a good vegan diet will get you anywhere you want to go. I take a multi, garlic, ginkgo, and magnesium. I also drink Twinlabs Carbo Drink during my runs. You can be vegan and active. Please don't give up being a vegan to run. A marathon is very doable on a vegan diet. I recommend finding a better doctor who will help you without forcing you to eat red meat.
Just my 2 cents!
