Yes Rnr Girl,
I am a strict vegan (no meat poultry eggs or dairy) so the cause is determined. I just went to a nutritionist who is helping me get turned around. My coach (and the nutritionist he recommends) both think red meat is a good thing. Coach said he doesnt know of any olympic medalist runners who are vegetarians. Anyway my goal is to be healthy and have a banner running year so I am going to try having red meat once a week for a year to see what happens.
I am trying to be patient but it is hard. A "long run" for me now is 5 miles and my mind still thinks of it as a short run and wants to speed thru it. I keep telling myself that "now is the time to enjoy running slow ". I know a few people who came back after injuries and had banner years.
You say not to count on any PRs this year but dont you think if I get over this anemia in 6 weeks by the fall I could be top notch?
