First, congrats on your awards. I agree with you; because of duplication of awards & the age-graded stuff I've known people who came away from Huntsville with quite a bit of cash. But, I disagree with you about the presentation ceremony. Quite possibly the reason why there are only "300-400 people" (your words, seemed like way more than that to me) is because we're crammed into a small hotel ballroom, every seat taken (lots of non-runners there), people leaning against the walls, even more sitting on the floors, in aisles.No water and its unbearably hot; the mcs have a captive audience (who'd leave before the drawing?)so they ramble on with pointless, time-wasting annecdotes and asides. If the city has any fire codes the hotel and the marathon organization are breaking them; if we'd had to clear out it would've been a disaster; several people looked really dehydrated and like they might pass out. If you want to see a good awards ceremony look at how Julia Emmons conducts the one at Peachtree Road Race: short and sweet and to the point.
