Is it possible you experienced signs of hyponatremia, despite the GU intake? Clearly the fatigue and confusion you felt in the final miles are classic symptoms. Basically, if you consumed too much water --and not enough electrolytes-- your body can't use the water given it. You'll actually become dehydrated in spite of the volume of fluid ingested.

Q: at what mile points did you ingest the GU paks?
