After having trained real hard for a Black Belt test in karate 2 years ago, I lost my period for about 4 months. I too ate a balanced diet and was not underweight nor under-fat so I thought it was just the onset of menopause (was 40 at the time). Turns out I was right. Perimenopause is what itÂ’s called. Though my menstrual period has returned to a semi-regular state (usually at least every couple months), I continue to have other common perimenopausal symptoms, which are not uncommon after a woman turns 35.
