Dave and Thumper (and the rest), First, thanks for a great job - the bulletin boards were just a mess and when I started getting emails complaining about them, I looked and was too overwhelmed to start. Even after your work of marking the inappropriate posts on these boards, I spent about 6 hours deleting and moving things - but I think we're pretty good now.

I kind of agree with Thumper - as I read through what was marked, I kind of thought that some of it was funny. So, while I certainly got rid of the really offensive stuff, I thought it wouldn't hurt to leave the humorous and silly stuff. And this section can stay as a reminder of what can happen (but everyone reading this should note that the REALLY bad stuff doesn't show up here anymore).

As for removing other stuff, I don't think we should remove stuff that's wrong - I think people using an open bulletin board should understand that the advice is NOT really given by experts, but rather by people who mean well and HOPEFULLY are on the right track. And it should be an open forum for people to freely share their thoughts and ideas - and for people to disagree (somewhat politely) with each other - then a variety of viewpoints can be heard. And, while I realize that my viewpoint is always right (just kidding, but...) we should let them all out. And, I agree with Ollie when he has suggested that it might help if people explained where their point of view is coming from.

As for things that are old - well, I better start working on some sort of archiving system. Right now the posts all show up on one page - and that's just too big and messy, so we do need to get stuff off. But, I think I'll work on something to just move the old posts to another page.

As for selling numbers and the like - we just all need to be more vocal in explaining why that's wrong. I'm not sure that we should hide it - for better or worse, it's part of the game (okay, I'll even admit that I ran NYC with someone elses number once - but I'll assure you that someone else procured it for me - heck, I was only planning on running 18 miles that day) - but we should respond to tell people that it's just not right. And, perhaps this site, by making all results easy to find will also discourage it (no way I'd give my number out so that a slow time might be associated with my name!).

Anyway, I still hope that this community will build. It's definitely a labor of love and a good cause. And I really do appreciate the help.

Take care and let's keep these bulletin boards alive...
