I can't agree more with annie... I also know many competitive runners who train on TM 3-4 times a week. Although TM is a little tedious at first it has many advantages, among others:
- all other things are always equal... meaning you can compare your runs between then and measure your progress exactly without worrying about the course, the weather etc,,,
- like annie i found that my performances on a TM and a flat road course with little/no wind/heat are virtually identical. (eg: if you can run 40min at 15km/h you will most likely run a 10K race very close to 40min)
- If you are going to train 4 to 6 times a week a TM is a 100 times better for your joints than the road.
