Hi everyone, I've just made a decision to try and run a marathon by November (my next birthday) and I want to know if this sounds like a completely ridiculous timeframe for my goal, or if it's achievable. So, here's a bit of my background. I just turned 30, and want to do something big (like a marathon) by the time I'm 31. I'm currently about 50 pounds overweight (so this is also a plan to lose weight). During 1998 I used to run 6 days a week (getting up at 5am to run on weekdays). I could usually run about 30 minutes nonstop and my best ever was 65 minutes nonstop. Then a friend told me I shouldn't be running so many days a week (and I shouldn't have listened - but I did), so I cut down to about 3 days, then 2 days, then completely got out of the habit. But I've just recently started back onto my plan of running 6 days a week (with 5am starts). When I was running before I never really had a goal, so that's why I thought it would be good to try for a marathon. So, is this a reasonable sort of goal, or a bit too ambitious for a beginner? Thanks, Michelle
