Thanks everyone! I'm wasn't sure before if it was a reasonable goal, but now I'm more confident that I will actually be able to do it.
Well, I'm 11 days into my training so far. I've been running 3-4 km every morning (Mon-Fri) and had my fisrt big run on Sunday of 8.5 km. I had quite a few walking breaks over the first 4 km, but only 3 one minute walking breaks for the last 4 km. (I know it probably doesn't sound like much - but I was surprised I could get to this stage so quickly)
My goal at the moment is just to try to get back up to being able to run longer distances (or time) without needing a walking break. I would like to be able to run 5k nonstop within the next 3 or 4 weeks. Like a lot of you suggested, it's better to break it up into smaller goals along the way. I'm on the lookout for a short race too (5 or 10k). I'm from Australia and we're in the middle of summer now, so I think a race in a month or two would be great - when it's not quite so hot.
Anyway, thanks again for all the support.
