Michelle, your goal sounds reasonable. Many marathon programs are 18 weeks long ending with the running of the marathon. They suggest 20-25 wkly mileage before starting. I really like Hal Higdon's programs, but there are many others. His website is halhigdon.com He has beginner programs on up to marathons (different levels). One day a week you should go on long SLOW runs with water/rest breaks built in. Good Luck!
