. . . it's much more interesting than this little spat. Steve asked whether sex really affects running stamina. I hope this isn't a serious question. That myth was dispelled a long time ago. Casey Stengel was once asked whether sex affected his players' performance. He responded that it wasn't the sex that was bad for them . . . it was the staying out all night looking for it.
If this is a serious question, I'd look to some other source for your weaker than expected performance that day. Did you have several hard training trains just prior to that day? Were you out late, or perhaps up late with your wife, the night before.
Last year, I invited my girlfriend to go with me to the NYC marathon. I told her I had to get to bed early and get a good night's sleep. She tried to be good, but after an hour, she mugged me. I won't go into details, but I ran fine the next day.
