I may seem like I'm being overly harsh, and I think it's a good thing that you've decided to push your marathon out at least until April. But based on your current level...dead after 3 miles at 9+minute pace, I would suggest you push it out even further.
It will take a substancial amount of time for you body to adapt to the stresses of running the mileage required to prepare for a marathon.
If you decide to stick with April, ramp your mileage up in stages and schedule drop back weeks to allow your body some rest and recovery time.
