three weeks ago on a 32k run my knee began to act up on a long downhill. One week later with a reduced volume, more stretching and ice....no change...got worse. One week later could not complete a 15k run without constant breaks to walk...add ice, massage, ibuprofen...stayed off for a week..Friday ran a casual 5k, Saturday 70 minutes of trails (knee sore again) then 90 walking out...yesterday ran a measured 5k in 22:10. knee was tender later....Question...Do I just take a really long taper and then run it at my best? I was following a 16 week plan. Have run three 1/2s two 1/2IM and four tris in last two years, also one 10 miler with the sore knee.....Seems if I run fast it doesn't hurt.
