Take a look at some marathon training programs. Most are 18 weeks in length and START with a run of 10 miles.
You really should follow a mileage build up schedule and be able to run 20 to 25 miles a week before thinking of tackling a marathon training program.
The more time you give yourself, the less injuries you will incur and you will begin to love running, not just grinding out the mileage. Running is a lifetime sport.
