Congratulations!
A half marathon is a good goal, but be reasonable and give yourself time. Set intermediate goals - maybe complete a 10K race - and feel comfortable with your results - along your journey. Don't rush your training. Patience has its rewards!
I'd suggest that you poke through a couple good running books - like Joan Benoit Samuelson's Running for Women and the late FloJo's Running for Dummies. And of course, the Glovers' Competitive Runners Handbook. Think about training tips that work for you and your schedule. Make this fun, not a chore. Pick a race that has nice amenities, and that has a spectator friendly finish line, so you feel that your accomplishment is special.
