Hi all. I'm 33 and I've been running medium to long distance off and on since high school (generally 4 - 7 miles per day when 'on'). I've just started up again but my fiancee is concerned that I'm overdoing it and may hurt myself. When I come back from runs my face is very red. This is something that has happened as long as I've been running. I know that I do push it, so perhaps I've been overdoing it whenever I've run. 'Pushing it' is part of what I enjoy about running, trying to improve upon times, etc., so I don't know if I'd really enjoy leisurely jogs for very long.
My fiancee wants me to go in and see a doc for a stress test or something before continuing, so that is likely what I'll do, but do any of you have any thoughts? Do you know others that routinely get red-faced, or is this a sure sign that I'm risking damage to myself?
Thanks.
