Being red-faced after effort is not problematic. I am fair skinned, of Irish decent, and I develop the same ruddiness during physical activity. Especially in July and August.
Unless you are overweight, you ought not to be concerned. But if your fiancee remains weirded out by this, you may want to invest in a decent heart monitor. (Which is a very good training device) Then you'll both know for certain whether you're pushing too hard.
